How Shania Twain’s Music Reminds Me Of My Girlfriend’s Love

Shania Twain is a country pop singer and songwriter. In fact, she’s one of the best, most iconic female performers in country music history. With over 100 million albums sold worldwide and 5 Grammy Award wins, she continues to remain popular. She also holds the record for the best-selling album by a female performer in any genre of music with her 1997 album “Come on Over.”

She also inspired me to be a writer. But even more than that, she also influenced my love story (which I believe is one of the most beautiful love stories ever told!)  My relationship with my girlfriend was one of my highlights of the end of 2018.

Many of Shania’s songs (and her musical style) remind me of my girlfriend. I know my girlfriend has many of same  thoughts that Shania Twain sings about in her songs.

“Dance with the One that Brought You”

This song reminds me of my future with my girlfriend. We could go out to a nightclub, country music style bar, or wedding, and it’ll remind me of the lyrics and music video. I will shine like a penny in a little kid’s hand out on a Saturday night with her. I’m a real go-getter and the best two-stepper you’ll see. I will be out on the floor but she won’t be sitting alone at a table for two. But she’ll be thinking about something that her momma used to say to her: “Dance with the one that brought you, and you can’t go wrong!” Listen to the song a couple of times, and you’ll see how it relates to my relationship.

“Any Man of Mine”

I will be proud of you even when you’re ugly (which you’re not), and I will still love you! You can be late for a date, that’s fine, but I will be on time. Anything you do or say will be OK, even when you have a bad hair day (which you never do). I will disagree when you say that another woman looks better than you. You can cook me dinner and burn it black, and I will say “I like it like that.” I’m your man!

“No One Needs to Know”

This song also reminds me of my girlfriend. From the day we became good friends, she had her heart set and feet wet and I didn’t even know it yet. I ended up telling her that I love her months later… and the rest is history!

“You’re Still the One”

We’re still together, and we’ll always be going strong. Ain’t nothing better, we beat the odds together. We don’t listen because look at what we’ll be missing? They said, “I’ll bet they’ll never make it.” But just look at what’s going on, still together and still going strong. You’re still the one! No matter how many people try to tear us down, my girlfriend will always be the one for me.

Shania Twain’s music will always remind me of my girlfriend and the love we share together. I love you, babe!
