St. Patrick’s Day is by far my favorite holiday of the year. I love that everyone dresses in green, and you can eat as many lucky charms as you want. In all seriousness, though, many people have asked what’s in my “pot of gold” this St. Patrick’s Day. From my ability to write and spread awareness to my family, I’ve been blessed in so many ways, so here are seven things I’m thankful for this year.
1. My cerebral palsy
Believe it or not, I’m thankful that I was born with cerebral palsy. It’s given me the opportunity to meet new people and spread awareness. Plus, the cerebral palsy awareness ribbon is green – perfect for St. Patrick’s Day!
2. My family
My family is wonderful, and they love me so much. Despite my lifelong obstacles, they always support me, so they definitely have a special place in my “pot of gold.”
3. My service dog
I’m thankful that my service dog goes above and beyond to protect me, especially when I’m in a medical crisis. My pup works hard every day to make sure I’m OK… and is super cute, too!
4. Books
From a very young age, I’ve always been a bookworm. I’m thankful for books because they let me escape my life and travel to fantastical worlds. It really is amazing that I can go on adventures just by reading a chapter or two… and maybe even find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!
5. My boyfriend
My boyfriend is goofy, kind, charming, and thoughtful. He always makes me laugh and smile with his love of Funko Pops and pop culture, and he makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. I love him, he loves me, and I’m so glad he’s mine. (Also, his funny, entertaining mother is a nice bonus in our relationship!)
6. Country music
I love country music because it always seems to know exactly how I’m feeling, and of course, because I’m a country girl at heart. I’m thankful for the days I spend jamming out to my favorite country music artists while I write.
7. Publix cookies
What’s a pot of gold without a little dessert? I love Publix’s holiday cookies, especially when they change for the latest seasons and events. They taste amazing, and this St. Patrick’s Day, I’m more than happy to stock up!
I’m thankful for everything in my pot of gold this St. Patrick’s Day. Everything and everyone in my life makes it golden… and so much better!
