I’ve loved music since I was a little girl. I remember all the times when I would sit next to the radio, replaying my favorite Billy Joel song, “A Matter Of Trust.” I would attempt to sing it for hours on end. As I listened to the song, I could feel the vibrations from the radio race through the floor. I loved the rush that came over me whenever I played music.
Throughout the years, I have been introduced to a variety of music genres. As a matter of fact, I find just how many genres I listen to extremely interesting. As I listen, I feel a sense of connection to the world, which is the power of music.
The beauty of being well-versed in music is that you can share your love of music with so many others. In turn, this allows them to share their favorite music with you.
Music has helped me through my happiest moments, but it has also seen me through many hard times. I don’t know what I would do or where I would be without it. This may sound cliché, but music will always be there for me, no matter what. I love that music feels like a best friend and that it gives me the freedom to choose what I’ll listen to next.
In life, we don’t know what the future holds, but there is a way that we can let go. Even when life’s uncertainty is too much to handle or we get worked up about things that we can’t change, music is the answer. Instead of worrying about the future, take a few deep breaths, grab your phone or computer and press play.
To this day, no matter which genre, artist, or song is playing, I always feel a sense of calm wash over me. I have heard some people say that they need to meditate or run in order to escape from reality, but music is my healthy escape from reality. As long as I have my phone, a pair of headphones, and an amazing playlist, I know that everything is going to be OK.
