Choose Wisely!

As adults, life gives us many challenges. It’s up to us to choose the right path for our individual selves. Some people aspire to be doctors or great authors and some of us just want be happy. I call it Adulting, it’s having the freedom to be who you want to be. Freedom gives us the right to choose. We chose who we are, where we work, who our friends are and where we go. Within that freedom comes responsibility. We have the power to become whatever we want and whoever we want to be. With hard work and perseverance, anything can be accomplished. Personally, I believe we are put on this earth for a purpose, that God had sent us here for a reason.

Let’s start out by admitting No one person has a perfect life. Our experiences make us who we are and our environment, the people around us shape us into becoming the person that we are. Also, sometimes the people around us teach us who we don’t want to be so we strive to be better. Failure and mistakes are part of growth, learning. Some days are about surviving our current circumstances and others are enhancing our best qualities. If we all decided to use our freedom to help one another, to be kind, to make a difference on this rock called Earth then maybe this world would become a better place.

Accept responsibility for what you can control then let go of what you can’t. We all have trials and tribulations.

Every day I choose to be a survivor, NOT a victim! I fight to find the good in myself and others. I focus on what I can do. No sense in wallowing in the I can’t, or the past. Freedom of choice is given to all of us. Decide today who you want to be. I challenge you to choose to:

  • Be grateful.
  • Be kind.
  • Love.
  • Be gentle.
  • Breathe.
  • Be helpful.
  • Smile.
  • Try new things.
  • Be brave.
  • Take chances.
  • Find beauty in every day.
  • Be patient.
  • Forgive.
  • Accept others.
  • Hope.
  • Keep trying, don’t give up.
  • Have faith.
  • Be strong.

Life gives us challenges so fight a good fight to live a full and happy life. Don’t take it for granted. Every day is a new opportunity, choose wisely.

Michele is a retired registered nurse who spent 15 years in Emergency Medicine. That's where she learned there's a fragility to life. Diagnosed with lupus, after going through a divorce, taught her to be a survivor instead of a victim. With her career shortened by illness she turned to books. She fell in love with the written word as a young child. To her, words convey emotion. Her new passion is writing. As an aspiring author, she hopes to inspire others on this roller coaster called life.
