When Your Eyes Met Mine

It is a dark evening

Almost opaque

I lie down on my prized

Picnic blanket

And gaze into the expanse

Of the sky

At the beautifully bright stars

The emptiness I felt all day

Is now gone

Marveling in all of God’s creation

When I turned around I saw you

Your eyes a crystal blue

So bright and shiny

They took my breath away

We sat and talked about the past

And today

I felt an instant connection with you

One that took the sadness and stored it away

I cannot help but notice your smile

Your bright white teeth light up the world

Across the miles

I found I couldn’t wait to be wrapped

Up in your arms

In the comfort of my own bed

Our hearts pounding in unison and providing

A blissful tune

As we made love that carried on until noon

My arms wrapped up in yours

My lips touching your core

Everything just felt like perfection

I knew with you I would never be shunned

Everything about you felt perfect

I will never forget the day I sat under the stars
Hoping for a brand-new start
